What if?
We are confident that our experience running camp for 33 years and especially over the last five summers has prepared us to meet the challenges, known and unknown, that may present themselves this summer. One thing we know for sure is that things around COVID-19 will be different when we open our doors in June, but we will be ready to make the best decisions with the health and safety of all in mind. While we plan to run a near-normal schedule of activities and trips, if we cannot do one wonderful trip or activity with your children, we will do another they will love. No matter how it plays out, our directors will be ready with the summer that your children are looking forward to.
No. There is, at present, no general vaccine mandate that would require your child to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to attend camp or participate in off-site activities, however this is subject to change, and you will be required to comply with the regulations in effect at the time your child attends camp. Over 95% of eligible enrolled campers last summer were vaccinated against COVID-19.
Parents of unvaccinated children should be aware of the following:
There may be days when unvaccinated children will not be able to attend camp because the venue we will be visiting does not admit unvaccinated individuals.
Unvaccinated campers who are exposed to COVID-19 will be required to quarantine based on guidelines at the time of exposure.
It is possible that governmental agencies including the Centers for Disease Control (CDC,) New York State Department of Health, and/or New York City Department of Health may issue guidance that precludes unvaccinated children from attending camp.
Families of unvaccinated children are assuming these risks and understand that no refunds will be issued for days missed due to reasons in items 1 and 2 above. In the event of item 3, you will be rebilled for the number of days and/or weeks your child attended camp prior to the withdrawal date based on the camp’s schedule of fees, as if the number of days and/or weeks attended constituted the entire enrollment and a credit for future use will be issued on your account.
In the event a change is made to the vaccine requirements after our schedule change deadline on May 15 but before camp opens on July 2, and you are unwilling or unable to comply with this requirement, you may cancel your child’s registration and receive a refund of the amount paid less the $95 registration fee and a 5% administrative fee.
Our families agree to our testing their children for COVID-19 when they register for camp, giving us permission to test either randomly or because their child appears to be symptomatic during the camp day.
Schedules are final and payments are due on May 15. You will have peace of mind when you submit your camper application knowing that you may change your child’s schedule or cancel entirely up until May 15, 2024 and receive a refund of all monies paid less the $150 registration fee and a 5% administrative fee.
As in any year, much of the cost to prepare and operate a camp is incurred prior to the camp season and there are many other costs that we will incur, including full payment to our staff and obligations under our leases, even if we are forced to close.
BEFORE MAY 15 In the event we deem it necessary to cancel camp, for any reason, prior to June 1, you will have the choice of a refund (total amount paid LESS the $95 registration fee and a 5% administrative fee) or an enhanced credit for next summer (total amount paid PLUS 7% of total amount paid less the $95 registration fee.)
AFTER MAY 15, BUT BEFORE CAMP OPENS ON JULY 3 In the event we are required by regulating authorities to cancel camp, or a change in regulations makes it impossible for us to operate, we will issue a credit on your account for the full amount paid to be used in a future camp program. No monies will be refunded.
AFTER CAMP OPENS If camp closes before the scheduled last day, whether by government order or by a decision of the directors that doing so is in the best interests of campers and staff, you will be charged for the number of days and/or weeks your child attended camp prior to the closure date based on the camp's Schedule of Fees, as if the number of days and/or weeks attended constituted the entire enrollment. Any resulting credit balance will remain on your account to be used towards a future camp program. No monies will be refunded.
