Why is camp more important now than ever?

Updated: Dec 24, 2019

There are things you can google and things you can't. Conquering a new skill, helping a friend, and exploring the world around us are badges we earn in a place like camp. Our tech-driven world gives us plenty of ways to communicate, but camp gives us the tools we need to improve the quality of our interactions with ourselves, with others, and with the world around us.

A child's understanding of their inner self sets the stage for who they will become.

Special Events for self-expression.

Arts and crafts for a vivid imagination.

Talent Shows for courage and confidence.

We use our social environment as a tool for growth!

Counselors encourage and guide campers through new and exciting experiences.

Cheering fosters a sense of community and belonging.

The buddy system teaches campers responsibility.

The world around our campers becomes more comfortable and accessible when they learn how to be in the moment and have an increased awareness of their surroundings.

There's an element of safety in everything we do.

Experiencing nature exposes us to new things and develops respect for the world around us.

We know that summers are meant to be fun and school focuses on learning, but in a place like the Park Slope Day Camp, you can have both. We give our campers space to grow and as the years go by, they step up and become young leaders in our community.
