Camp wasn't built in a day...
Updated: Aug 19, 2019
Every year, campers and families show up with smiles on their faces and an excitement you just don't see anywhere else. Can you believe this “magic of camp” moment began its journey early last fall? Our team spends the year developing new programs for divisions and re-assessing safety at camp. At the same time, we begin our training for summer.
Everyone, from our assistant counselors to directors are dedicated to being camp professionals. Our team spends more than three full weeks throughout the year bonding, developing mentor-ships, and working to be the best version of ourselves for camp.
We get a head start on summer when we join with thousands of other camp professionals at the annual American Camp Association conference. This year, our supervisors followed up the conference with a weekend training filled with team building and safety mantras that strengthened the leadership of our veteran supervisors and inducted the new members of our leadership team.
The ringers of camp are the counselors. On top of their professional development, they show up the week before campers do and make sure everything is ready for our families.
You might be wondering, so why is this important? Park Slope Day Camp is not just a place to have fun every day. We’re a passionate community that pays great attention to detail to make sure every summer is more successful than the last, as we have always done. We are truly grateful to have a team that upholds that core value.
Rome wasn’t built in a day; but if they had our team, it might have been.
