Junior Campers spend the majority of their day out-of-doors in the green and glorious natural environment of Prospect Park. Each camp week is built around a theme that comes alive in the songs we sing, the arts and crafts we make, the games we play, and a very special event. Our ongoing staff training incorporates the same weekly theme, and the result is personal growth for campers and staff alike.
PSDC staff teaches Junior Campers the importance of friendship, cooperation, and respect for the environment in which we live. We offer a variety of traditional camp activities like sports, drama, music, martial arts, gymnastics, horseback riding, and swim. We go on a trip every week. It’s no wonder parents tell us their Junior Campers come home dirty, tired, hungry and happy!
A typical week in Junior Camp

- A day at the beach
- A trip day, occasionally pre-empted by a major event at camp
- Instructional swim at the Red Hook pool twice a week
